  • Welcome toStudio 64 Photography
  • Hello! I'm LeAnn, the Owner/Photographer of Studio 64 Photography.

I've been offering Professional Portrait Photography services to clients in the Walker, Minnesota, Leech Lake area of Northern Minnesota for over 12 years.

My BEST work comes from what I LOVE to photograph. If you are looking for High School Senior Portraits, Family Portraits, Children's Portraits, or Business Portraits, I'd love to chat.

My services include Studio Portraits, Studio Outdoors Portraits (just imagine...40 acres of that "up north" look), and On-Location Portrait services to both locals and visitors alike.

Most of my photo sessions are On-Location at one of our beautiful Northern Minnesota lakes, whether that's at one of the many resorts or at your private home or cabin.

To find out a little more about me, please check out my "ABOUT" page.
I welcome your questions, so feel free to email, call or send a message though the "CONTACT" link.

Whether you’ve already got a headshot session booked or you’re contemplating having one done, the below guidelines will help you prepare more adequately.

Guideline 1: Wear Clothing That’s Flattering, Modest, and Neutral

There’s a time and a place for that leopard print top or crazy tie, but your headshots will usually require a different aesthetic. Neutral solid colors (blue, gray, black or brown) are the best color choices for both men and women. However, with that being said, for the ladies, you can get a little bolder with your color choices. The best color for ladies is, “whatever color you KNOW you look and feel great in”. Again, just stay away from loud, bold prints.

Make sure your clothing isn’t too revealing, and that your outfit is comfortable and flattering to your figure and complexion. If your dress, shirt, or sport coat is a bit tooo squeezy, it’s time to go shopping for something that fits properly.

Guideline 2: Bring a Second Outfit

You’ll likely want to have some variety in choice when choosing your favorite headshot images, so bring a second outfit to the session.

Guideline 3: Keep Accessories to a Minimum

This is a headshot, so we don’t want to detract from your face. Too much jewelry can lead the eye elsewhere, so it’s best to stick to small and modest pieces if you choose to wear any accessories at all.

Optional” Guideline 4 : Have your Hair/Makeup Done Professionally

If you were looking for an excuse to get a haircut, blowout, or professional makeup, this is it! Not only does handing that responsibility off to someone else reduce your burden on picture day, but it ensures that you look and feel incredible.

For haircuts or colors, this is NOT the time to try a new hairstyle or color, save that for another adventurous time in your life.

I couldn’t have started off my new year in any better way than the WONDERFUL opportunity of capturing some portraits for the Mosaic Home. The Mosaic home is an adult foster home owned by Tricia Bastian. Tricia and her staff care for three gentlemen whom have been together for almost 20 years! Next month, March, they will have been open for one year. Congratulations!!

To commemorate their new home, the men were super excited about having their portraits taken with everyone that helps them out day to day.

I can’t thank Tricia enough for this opportunity. My heart is so happy that they have some wonderful images capturing each of their personalities.

A final thank you and BRAVO to the entire group as it was at least 30 below windchill for the outdoor photo. BRRRR….

As per my previous “Handshake aka “Business Portrait post”, here is a great offer for you to take advantage of in the month of March.

Next week, I’ll cover the topic of “What to Wear” for your business/handshake images. I’ll also be sharing a few additional important tips so you can walk away with images that you LOVE!

Professional handshake… say what? Let me explain. What I’m really referring to are professional business portraits. If you are a business professional offering any type of service or product, do you have a picture of yourself on your website or social media page? If so, what exactly does that image of you look like? It is an image that someone quick snapped with a cell phone, or yikes… a selfie? If so, have you ever thought about the message that image portrays?

When I’m checking out businesses for my needs and come across a picture that has bad lighting, and/or bad posing, my first thought is that they must not be very serious, so I move on. Have you done the same? On the flip side, what do you think when you see a professional image? For me, my believability and trust in them significantly increases, and therefore I will more than likely contact them to inquire or just buy from them right away.

So let’s get back to this professional handshake post title. We are the digital age, we have social media that is picture driven and whether you like it or not, it’s not going away. If you are offering a product or service, I’m sure you don’t want to send the wrong message to a prospective client that you didn’t care enough to have a professional portrait, right? Finding customers is a tough business in itself, so why wouldn’t you want to put the best image of you out there. Your image is your first impression and also a warm welcoming handshake to your business. It’s up to you how you want to leave your first impression.

Studio 64 Photography offers over 12 years of education and experience to ensure that you LOVE your portrait! Studio sessions are offered year- around, so don’t wait until it’s summer and you are too busy. Sessions take less than 30 minutes you’ll have your new image in less than 48 hours.

Future post Part 2 will be covering my most asked question… What to Wear?

Like years past, Walker-Hackensack-Akeley Minnesota School held their Prom dinner and dance at Hiawatha Beach Resort on Leech Lake.    This time of year comes with so much unpredictability weather-wise, but not this year,  it was perfect and sunny!   Hiawatha Beach Resort boasts a wide expansive view of Leech Lake and if you ask me, it’s one of the best beaches in northern Minnesota.  Another great aspect the prom goers can enjoy is dinner from the dining room facing Leech Lake.    But before dinner begins,  for those who want a professional image capturing this once in a lifetime event,  I’m on standby to capture their images outside on the beach.   Here are the prom goers that took advantage of this option.  Don’t mind the ice and snow covered lake in the background, it’s Minnesota, that sometimes happens in April.
